Lunch, Learn & Lift: The Practical Approach to Using Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting in Physical Therapy

Published by Ohio Physical Therapy Association and APTA of Maryland

Summary

Not all PT has to be done with therabands and a BOSU ball. In this talk we will cover how to appropriately use powerlifting and Olympic lifting in the out-patient setting. We will address when to safely initiate squats, deadlifts, the clean and jerk, and the snatch to LE rehabilitation. We will also cover basic technique and progression of these exercises so the patients regain confidence with power and explosive movement. These movements are appropriate for the high level athlete or the non-athlete who needs to perform lifting and carrying tasks.
